The summer of 2020 is slowly fading into the sunset, in what has to be remembered as one long, bumpy bus ride. You know the one from our childhood days? The song keeps replaying in my head, “The wheels on the bus go round and round, round and round………”. Only this bus is a lot different. My best friend no longer sits next to me, he sits two rows away with a layer of plexiglass between each row. Instead of being jammed in like sardines, we have to yell at one another through masks and constantly keep saying, “What? I couldn’t understand you”. The bus driver is still mean though and much like the today’s media, they remind us of the weariness of our lives and the fears we face daily.
The stock markets and political landscape continue to throw us new and interesting twists and turns as well. Just when we thought we would never see stock splits again, Apple and Tesla announce them. Who knew that was coming?? We were all feeling good that a new round of stimulus measures were just around the corner, but no, the powers at hand just can’t seem to find any middle ground. Round and round we go in a massive game of tug-of-war. This is far from over. With Biden’s selection of Kamala Harris as his running mate, the stage has been set for the ultimate showdown. Yet, we sit here on our proverbial “bus” waiting for cooler heads to prevail, a vaccine to appear while trying to remain as calm as possible. It’s certainly not easy. More jobs will be lost, some of our favorite restaurants will close, and ultimately the normalcy we crave will still just be out of reach. But all of this will change and things will get better. I know it.
In the meantime, focus on what you can control. For us, as your trusted advisors, its being in touch and understanding your specific needs and challenges while maintaining a steady hand along the way. While our goals may have been altered slightly or prolonged just a bit more, that is ok. That is life. That is the “ride” we all share. Remember, take a look out the window, check on a friend, keep your faith close to you and remind yourself you are strong. One last piece of advice though. Pack a snack for the ride…….the road just got bumpier and longer! We are here for you.
