Finally, we were treated to a true “presidential” debate on Thursday evening. While I don’t believe it will change much as it pertains to the election, it certainly provided us all with a clearer view of where each candidate stands on the various issues. Our election 2020 outlook video is now posted to our YouTube channel and I invite you to use the link attached to view the 20-minute video and slides. There is quite a bit of information to digest but I hope you will take some time to consider some of the potential election outcomes we have outlined. I welcome any feedback and questions you might have. My intent is to provide a short follow-up video late next week that will address any questions or additional topics that might be presented from our clients. I for one will be glad when this all behind us and we can again plan for moving forward.

The stock markets have been relatively quiet as we work through these next few crucial weeks. I know there is plenty of cash now sitting on the sidelines awaiting our political direction and the earnings we have seen so far remain strong. As we head full steam into the holidays, I want to give you a few things to think about. There is no question that given the ongoing Covid concerns, the coming holiday and shopping season will be much different than any we have previously experienced. Consider the potential impact to supply chains, logistics and shipping channels, inventory controls, etc. There is no question that the “hot” items will be sold-out much earlier than normal. Simply put, think about the massive volume of items that will be traveling our wonderful country and world for that matter. There will be constraints to the supply chain system. Will shipping channels, such as the Postal Service, FedEx and UPS have enough help to control and handle the volume? These are all questions I certainly have, but I know for certain that I don’t want to be shopping or expecting things to arrive “on-time” in the last week before Christmas! My advice – get started and finished much earlier than normal!!! Some food for thought on this lovely Fall day.

Have a wonderful weekend and please reach out with questions or comments.
